Elk Crossing – Day 3 through 5

Day 3 was a rest day. Somehow I hurt my ankle in my sleep (I might be a sleepwalker) and my hiking shoes were killing me. Even though I wore these shoes before, I never had any problem. Figures.

Nothing wrong with just having a relaxing day, right? We booked a one hour long couples massage at Affinity at Estes Park. The ladies did a fabulous job (thank you Kim and Lynne). I felt great after my combination Deep tissue/Swedish massage. We spent all day at Estes Park (my favorite spot by the way). We were window shopping, eating and enjoying the beautiful view for the rest of the day.

During our dinner we were sitting on a patio at the Mama Rose’s restaurant and were watching hummingbirds flying across the river. All of a sudden it started raining just for one minute. After the mini shower the sun came out and a beautiful rainbow showed up across the sky! How romantic :) I didn’t mind the sudden weather changes or snow in 70 degree temperatures! It was fun.

We left Estes Park on Thursday morning and headed to Boulder first. After a short visit, we continued driving to Denver. Denver was a very nice city but it reminded me of Chicago, with busy streets and traffic (I’m not a big city girl, can you tell?).

I was so ready to go back to the mountains! Our next and final destination was Manitou Springs. This place was really cute. I loved all those shops and restaurants. Our favorite spots were Heart Of Jerusalem Cafe and Adam’s Mountain Cafe. Definitely a must, the food was fabulous!

On Friday we went to the Garden of the Gods park. Since my foot was still hurting, we didn’t do any hiking. Then we decided to take the Cog Railway to Pikes Peak. The round trip lasted 3 hours and 10 minutes. Our ride went by very fast since we had the charming company of a very nice couple (Hello to Sue and Jim! :)). When we arrived on the top of Pike’s Peak the weather changed drastically! It started snowing very heavily and it became windy and cold. We took a few pictures and then sought shelter inside of the Cafe shop. There we tasted their famous doughnut with a cup of hot chocolate :)

After we arrived back at Manitou Springs it started raining which was a good excuse to do some shopping and buy some gifts. I really enjoyed my first visit to Colorado. I miss the mountains and can’t wait to go back!

In The Clouds – Day 1

Even though we just got home from our honeymoon/vacation on Sunday morning, it already feels like it was only a dream. I’m so glad that we have these special pictures to prove how beautiful Colorado is. It was an amazing trip. We decided to drive to our destination – Estes Park. It took us 16 hours to get there. It wasn’t that bad because we were super excited to share this trip together. The funny thing is that car rides make me hungry, so I made sure to pack lots of extra snacks just for me! :)

We arrived at Estes Park on Sunday evening, just in time to catch the sunset over the mountains. We reserved 3 nights in Wildwood Inn. I liked this place most, especially their Tempur-Pedic bed. The next morning we stopped for breakfast at Egg & I in Estes Park, which we really enjoyed. Erich’s favorite was the Hiker’s Benedict! After breakfast we packed our gear and went for a ride to the Rocky Mountain National Park! I must say WOW!!! This place is so beautiful. I was in seventh heaven with all those clouds surrounding us. Not to forget that I love nature and wildlife.

I enjoyed our first day very much, but to be honest one thing bothered me a little bit… Sadly, people ignore the signs about not feeding the wildlife (and trust me they are almost on every stop) and let their children share their chips and junk food with the birds and animals. We witnessed it on a few occasions. Also, we were approached a few times on the trail by tree squirrels, ground squirrels, chipmunks and birds begging for food.

To be continued…

Dobrá Tea and more | Yorkville IL Photographer

I wanted to share a few pictures from our recent visit to Madison. We like this place! This time we just stayed for one day. We had a great lunch, strolled around the Botanical Gardens and ended up our day visiting good friends of ours.

While we were exploring the city we came across “Dobrá Tea” and I knew immediately that I wanted to go check it out. I had a feeling that this place would be connected with the Czech Republic and I was right. It brought back old memories. I remember how we used to visit Tea rooms. These places are very popular there.

You can find more information about the Origins of Dobrá Tea here.

News around here | Yorkville Photographer

It’s been a while since I posted here on my blog. The time flies so fast. So between sessions, processing and traveling I didn’t have time for anything else. I promise, new pictures and posts are coming soon. I wanted to thank all my new clients and my returning ones. You are the best clients ever! It’s been a blast and for sure a great summer. Hope that everyone else is enjoying themselves.

One of our recent trips was our short getaway to Las Vegas. Our plans were to get together with Erich’s sister and her family. Also, celebrate my 35th birthday! But just shortly before our trip we decided to get married there as well :) I was shopping last minute for my “wedding” dress. We always wanted to elope and this was the perfect opportunity. Despite the Vegas heat the trip was amazing. We spent some time exploring and celebrating. Erich proposed on the top of the Stratosphere :) Next day was my birthday celebration and shopping for the rings and the day after our ceremony in the Chapel of the flowers. It was a wonderful experience. I loved every minute of it. I wouldn’t change anything. And we even have some pictures from our wedding!

Botanical Gardens | Yorkville Photographer

I wanted to share a few pictures from the botanical gardens in Madison WI. Erich’s birthday is coming up so we decided to go on a short getaway. I’m so glad we did :) but I wish we could stay longer. I loved everything about Madison. What a great place to visit. We biked, went swimming, ate too much, explored, hung out by the lake with friends. I’m so ready for our next vacation. Hope everyone is enjoying this nice weather.

Enjoying outdoors {Yorkville Pet Photographer}

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather we are having in April! As you can see from the pictures, we let our indoor cat Lester enjoy some fresh air too. He is so curious and always trying to escape outside. For sure he is getting more adventurous, and it looks like he doesn’t want to stay by the house anymore. Last time he ran away from Erich into the woods, but luckily Erich got him. :)

And here testing my new macro lens. Yeah! I’m so excited to take some new macro shots since the weather is so beautiful. I can’t wait to use it on some newborn fingers and toes too ;)

Macro World {Yorkville Photographer}

Erich surprised me with a bouquet of flowers (no occasion), so I had to take some pictures before our cat Lester would get into them. I love macro photography. It’s amazing to look at the pictures and see all the tiny details. While I was taking some close-ups, I noticed an Asian lady beetle landed on one of the petals. Yes, we have some at home. It is a “leftover” from the beetle invasion we had last fall.

Winter Wonderland {Yorkville Children Photographer}

Looks like this winter is very generous when it comes to snow. For sure we can’t complain about not having enough. Although winter is my least favorite season, I still find this time of the year magical. Not just because of the holiday but there is something beautiful about seeing everything covered under the white “blanket”.
I thought I’ll share with you a picture of our Bengal cat Lester. In case you can’t tell, he’s an indoor cat. We took him out in the snow and he actually liked it because the following day, while Erich was refilling the bird feeder, he slipped out on his own. He started exploring and slowly walking away from our house. But don’t worry he’s safely back home now taking his nap.
